Paris Hotel Review: OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est

Hotel + Paris + Staycation + Travel

After my winter solo trip to Paris earlier this year, I decided to return for a summertime visit in mid-July. Since I enjoyed staying near Gare du Nord last time, I looked for a hotel in the same area. That’s how I landed on OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est — a modern, minimalist hotel that turned out to be a great base for a short 3-day stay in the city.

Why Stay Near Gare du Nord / Gare de l’Est?

I know the Gare du Nord area often gets a mixed reputation, but having lived in London for over 10 years, it honestly didn’t feel unsafe to me. It’s a bustling, multicultural area — much like King’s Cross in London — and it’s one of the best-connected locations in Paris. If you’re arriving by Eurostar, this area is ideal. You’re also close to Gare de l’Est, which gives you access to multiple metro lines and makes getting around the city incredibly easy.

Location: Super Convenient and Surprisingly Quiet

OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est is literally next to Gare de l’Est, and only about a 5-minute walk from Gare du Nord. Despite being so close to major train stations, the hotel feels surprisingly quiet and peaceful. It’s a white, modern building that’s easy to spot when walking around the area.

Rooms & Amenities: Clean, Modern, and Comfortable

I stayed in a Club Classic Room, which was perfectly sized for one person (though suitable for two). Like most Paris hotels, space is limited, but the layout felt functional and airy. The minimalist design and large window made the room feel bright and inviting.

In-room amenities include:

  • A capsule coffee machine
  • TV & phone
  • Air-conditioning (a lifesaver in the Paris summer!)
  • Hair dryer
  • Shower gel and shampoo

What’s missing?

There’s no kettle and no mini fridge, which I did miss. However, you can refill drinking water on each floor, and the Club Lounge on the ground floor offers 24/7 access to drinks like tea, juice, and sparkling water.

Note: They don’t provide bathrobes or slippers by default, and I forgot to bring mine. You can request essentials like toothbrushes, conditioner, body lotion, and sanitary items at the front desk.

Shower Room Notes

The shower was great — excellent water pressure and very clean. However, be aware that the bathroom has a glass door and semi-transparent wooden divider, so it’s not fully private. Fine for solo travelers or couples, but maybe awkward for friends.

Hotel Facilities: Cozy, Functional, and Relaxing

The Club Lounge on the ground floor is a highlight. It’s an open space where you can relax, work, or have a drink. It includes:

  • Snacks (nuts, cakes)
  • Free drinks (tea, juices, sparkling water)
  • A business corner with computer & printer
  • Plenty of seats and charging points — ideal for remote work

There’s also:

  • A small fitness room and sauna
  • Laundry area with ironing facilities (no washer/dryer though)

Breakfast & Dining

OKKO Hotels offers breakfast for an extra charge, but since you’re in Paris — land of bakeries — I personally recommend stepping out and trying fresh pastries from nearby boulangeries instead. That said, you’re still welcome to grab free coffee from the Club Lounge in the morning, which is a nice touch.

Price & Value

I paid around €140 per night (2025 Stay), plus a daily city tax of €8.45. For what the hotel offers, I’d say that’s a fair and competitive price for Paris in peak summer. OKKO is a hotel chain, so the service is well-managed and professional. The reception is staffed, and everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I was really happy with my stay at OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est. The location is convenient for Eurostar travelers, the rooms are clean and modern, and the Club Lounge is a lovely perk. It’s a great choice for solo travelers, couples, or business trips, especially if you’re only in Paris for a few days. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a decent hotel near Gare du Nord/Gare de l’Est!
