If you’re looking for a convenient hotel near Gare du Nord or Gare de l’Est, especially for a short Paris trip or Eurostar arrival, here’s my honest review of Staycity Aparthotels Paris Gare de l’Est, based on my recent stay.
Why Stay Near Gare du Nord / Gare de l’Est?
The Gare du Nord / Gare de l’Est area often gets mixed reviews, but after living in London for over 10 years, I personally didn’t find it unsafe. It’s a busy, multicultural neighbourhood — comparable to King’s Cross in London — and one of the most well-connected areas in Paris.
If you’re arriving by Eurostar, staying near Gare du Nord or Gare de l’Est makes a lot of sense. Multiple metro lines run through this area, making it easy to get around the city. As I usually stay in Paris for 2–3 days, I find this location especially practical and time-saving.
Location: Ideal for Eurostar Travellers
Staycity Aparthotels Paris Gare de l’Est is located about a 7-minute walk from Gare de l’Est. I initially thought the walk from Gare du Nord would be similar, but in reality, even an extra few minutes can feel noticeable when you’re carrying luggage.
Rooms & Amenities: Clean and Functional
I stayed in a Studio Apartment, which was well-sized for one to two people. The room felt larger compared to many other Paris hotels I’ve stayed in. It has large windows, but as I was on the ground floor, I kept the curtains closed most of the time for privacy.

In-room amenities included:
- Small kitchenette with fridge, kettle, and basic kitchenware
- Capsule coffee machine
- Iron and ironing board
- TV
- Hair dryer
- 2-in-1 shower gel & shampoo
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious compared to many Paris hotels, where bathrooms can be extremely compact.

What Could Be Improved?
There were a few practical issues worth mentioning:
- No power socket in or near the bathroom, making it inconvenient to use a hair dryer while looking in the mirror
- No hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or clothes
- No full-length mirror in the room
- No bathtub or slippers (understandable for an aparthotel)

Hotel Facilities
The hotel has:
- A laundry room (I didn’t use it)
- A small dining and seating area on the ground floor
Food, coffee, and drinks are not complimentary and need to be purchased separately. Reception appears to be 24 hours, which is convenient for late arrivals.

Price & Value
I paid around €188 per night (2026 stay), plus a daily city tax of approximately €5.50. For Paris, this price is reasonable, especially considering the location near major train stations and the added kitchenette facilities.

Final Thoughts: Would I Stay Again?
While the location is convenient and the price relatively affordable, I personally wouldn’t choose this aparthotel again.
I was assigned a ground-floor room, which picked up quite a lot of noise from the reception, small dining area, and people talking outside on the street. If you’re a light sleeper, this could be an issue — I’d strongly recommend mentioning this preference when booking.

That said, if you:
- Can avoid a ground-floor room
- Don’t mind walking a bit further from Gare du Nord
- Want a functional aparthotel near major transport links
…then Staycity Aparthotels Paris Gare de l’Est could still be a suitable option.
