Wanting
These viral smashed dumplings are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and incredibly easy to make. Instead of folding traditional dumplings, the filling is simply spread onto the wrapper and pan-fried until golden before being folded in half. They're perfect as a quick snack, appetiser, or easy weeknight meal.

- A few dumpling wrappers store-boughtor frozen, thawed
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Sesame seeds and chopped spring onion for garnish
- Your favourite dipping sauce such as soy sauce, oyster sauce, or sriracha
FOR THE FILLING
- 260 g pork mince
- 1 tbsp grated garlic
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 tbsp chopped spring onion
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- A pinch of white pepper
Prepare the Filling : In a bowl, combine the pork mince, grated garlic, grated ginger, spring onion, cooking wine, soy sauce, and white pepper. Mix until well combined.
Assemble the Dumplings : Lay the dumpling wrappers on a flat surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling onto the centre of each wrapper and gently spread it into a thin, even layer, leaving a small border around the edges.
Pan-Fry : Heat a drizzle of vegetable oil in anon-stick frying pan over medium heat. Place the dumplings filling-side down and cook for 1–2 minutes, or until the pork is cooked and nicely browned.
Fold and Crisp : Carefully flip each dumpling overand cook for another 1–2 minutes. Fold the wrapper in half to create a taco shape, then continue cooking until both sides are lightly golden and crispy.
Serve : Transfer to a serving plate, drizzle with your favourite dipping sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onion. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
