Noodles & Dumplings in Gochugaru Chilli Soup

A quick cosy comfort fix! Nothing beats slurping on dumplings noodle soup like this.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 pcs Frozen dumplings
  • 1 pack Asian noodle I used Japanese somen
  • 1 tbsp Gochugaru
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped spring onion
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vegetarian dashi powder (or MSG)
  • 2-3 tbsp oil for sizzling
  • Sprig onion, crispy fried shallots, and sesame seeds for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • In a large heatproof bowl, combine Gochugaru, garlic, and spring onion.
  • Heat 2-3 tbsp oil over medium high heat until it shimmers, then pour the hot oil over the Gochugaru mixture.
  • Add the soy sauce, sugar and dashi powder to the Gochugaru mixture. Stir well until thoroughly combined. (feel free to taste and adjust the seasoning as desired.)
  • In a pot of boiling water, cook the frozen dumplings and noodles until cooked through.
  • Transfer the cooked noodles and dumplings to the bowl with the Gochugaru mixture. Add the reserved noodles cooking liquid and give it a mix.
  • Garnish with spring onions, crispy shallots, and sesame seeds before serving.
